Justin Bieber's "What Do You Mean": Listen to the New Single

The tropical beat and melancholy lyrics make the comeback single a must-hear for fans of the Biebs' Jack Ü collaboration "Where Are Ü Now"

As indicated from earlier snippets, "What Do You Mean" boasts a tropical, Kygo-like production mixed with melancholy vocal delivery and all-too-relatable lyrics reminiscent to Bieber's Jack Ü collaboration "Where Are Ü Now." The song sees the pop star dissecting a confusing relationship, pleading the listener to be more direct as they "argue all day, make love all night." (We've all been there.) This isn't the same boy who sang "Baby"—Bieber is grown.

The accompanying lyric video follows skateboarders Ryan Sheckler and Chelsea Castro as they board around town. The pop superstar makes a (shirtless, of course) cameo in the last minute to show off his boarding skills too, looking more mature and happier than ever.

Original Story (8/26): Justin Bieber is almost back. The superstar's comeback single "What Do You Mean" has had a grand social media rollout with everyone from Larry King to Ed Sheeran hyping up the song's August 28 release date, and now we get a sneak peak.

A 30-second HQ teaser of the track surfaced today. Similar to his Jack Ü collaboration "Where Are Ü Now," the tune has a polished, tropical dance sound mixed with melancholy lyrics: "What do you mean? / Said you're running out of time / What do you mean? / Gotta make up your mind, what do you mean? / Your so indecisive, what I'm sayin' / Trying to catch the beat make of your heart / Don't know if you're happy or complaining." Notably, the track does sound a bit more upbeat than the Diplo/Skrillex jam.

"What Do You Mean" will be revealed in full on Friday, August 28, and is the lead single off his Justin Bieber's anticipated new album.
